Day two of MOVE07 was even more packed than the first! After breakfast and quiet times, the high school team loaded up the bus and headed for Benton Harbor. Once there the team met up with Habitat for Humanity and went to work big time on a house that is being built. The team took the walls that had already been framed and they raised all the exterior walls. After they got that done, they went through and raised all the interior walls of the house! IN one day they raised ALL the walls!

The middle school team headed over to the Habitat Restore in Mishawaka, which is a new location and is still getting settled. We helped paint some of the exterior of the property to get it looking nice and the team sorted through a ton of things that had been donated to the Habitat Restore. After lunch the team then went to the State Theater in downtown South Bend. The team helped in the ongoing process to renovate the State and all the rundown, overused, undercleaned areas of the theater. We were able to get things ready for a program that was running that night.

After getting back to the hotel and getting all cleaned up, everybody loaded up in the bus for a surprise team activity! We all took in a Silverhawks game followed by a pretty cool firework display! Before we left to head back to the hotel, we stopped by MC3 to talk about what is going on there and to pray over the building and all the lives that will be touched by the ministry that will happen in there.

It was a great night and tomorrow will be a GREAT day as the middle school team and high school team join forces along with MERGE and the adult construction crew to continue the renovations at MC3.

Today was awesome! We got up bright and early, had some breakfast, took some time to stop and remember the One we are doing this all for and then the middle school group loaded up the bus and headed to Manowe for the day. While there the group did tons of work projects! Some of the team helped weed and plant new flowers outside of the dream center as well as weeding the entire path out to the Hope Garden, which they also weeded! Another part of the team helped remove an old horse fence that has been replaced. Cory got to help Randy use the tractor to pull out giant fence poles! More of the team headed back to where the cabins are to help make some landscaping upgrades! And that was just the morning! After lunch the team went to town helping catch Manowe up on a lot of work that needed done in the pastures and the horse barn. The team was even ready and excited to shovel manure!

The high school team loaded up the bus and started things off today at Granger Community Church! They were able to get tons of projects done that helped get things caught up. The team helped clean the entire perimeter of the GCC campus where trash can pile up especially on the backside along Cleveland. The team also tackled a few items to clean up the exterior of the building and planted some grass seed to help grow back the patches that had been killed from the winter salt. The team ALSO tackled wiping down the frames of every single chair at GCC! This is a task that is done at least once a year and can take days to complete, but our team knocked it all out today! After the team finished up at GCC, they moved on to help out at the South Bend Center for the Homeless! While there the team got to work alongside residents at the center to help weed, plant flowers and help beautify the Center for the Homeless. The team also helped reorganize some of the donation rooms, cleaned out some of the expired goods and pulled some items that were getting on a truck to be distributed to those in need. The team had a cool chance to talk with residents at the Center and here their life story and gave the residents a chance to talk with someone who cared about them!

This evening then it was back to the hotel for a chance to shower up a little bit before our team dinner courtesy of Moe’s Southwest Grill! We had a little bit of time to enjoy the pool and hang out for a bit as a team and then we spent time together debriefing the day and sharing stories about who we got to serve today and the opportunities we had to share Jesus with others! And then since everyone did such a great job we ended the evening with a few dilly bars and other various treats from the local Dairy Queen!

Now it’s off to bed so we can get some great sleep and be ready for another great day tomorrow!

THE INTERNS HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING!

August Garritano and Kasie Kyle are off to MEXICO. FULL STORY HERE.

MOVE07 HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!!!

MOVE07 is officially off and running! Everyone got checked into the hotel last night and we had an awesome couple hours as a team to pray together and talk together about our next few days on this amazing journey.

The team got a chance to share with each other why they are here. Some students are here on this trip because they know that this is their next step and that this is what God has called them to. Some students are on this trip because they want to let other people know that they matter to God and they matter to us. Some students are here because they know that God has called them to grow and take steps further down the road like Mexico or Chicago missions trips and that this is a step in that journey.

While we are all gathered here for different reasons initially, we are all here on this trip now because other people matter. Other people matter in Mexico, other people matter in Chicago and other people matter right here in Michiana.

Over the next few days we will be working and serving all throughout the community as we let people know that they matter to Jesus. Continue to pray for the team as we start off strong working all day tomorrow and really dive in to our projects. Pray for the weather and pray for team unity as we begin to get pushed to our limits tomorrow.

If your student is on this trip, leave a comment. If your friend is on this trip, leave a comment. If you don’t know anybody on this trip, but would like to encourage and pray for us, leave a comment. We would really like to hear from friends and family as we are pressing forward in what God has called us to this week.

We will continue to update tomorrow evening with updates on the work projects and possibly even some photos!

MOVE Updates

Hey MOVE team!

Couple updates and reminders for everybody because MOVE is coming up real soon! WOOHOO!

We are meeting at the South Bend Downtown Marriott on Wednesday June 27 at 6:30 PM. We will have dinner. MOVE07 will then be done Saturday evening at 6:45, we will ALL be attending the 5:30 service together and your parents can pick you up at GCC at 6:45 PM.

When you get to the hotel, we will be gathering in Salon C. At that time, we will let you know the exact amount of support you have raised. If you have not reached the required amount, we will set up a plan for payment within the following two weeks of the trip.

ALL HIGH SCHOOL MOVE07 TEAM MEMBERS!!! For our trip to Benton Harbor Habitat for Humanity, there is a waiver that is required for this project. We will be mailing one of these home to you and you can bring this with you on June 27th to the hotel. You MUST have this turned in.

Continue to pray for this trip. Continue to pray that God will MOVE through you in this community. Continue to pray that God will MOVE in you on this trip.

And remember...other people matter.

NEXT MEETING THIS SUNDAY!

Hey MOVE07 team, we wanted to remind you that the next AND last MOVE07 meeting is this Sunday, the 3rd, from 3-5 pm at GCC. It's hard to believe it but we're just a couple weeks away from what is going to be an amazing experience!

This Sunday we'll be spending some time covering details of the trip including a tentative itinerary of where we'll be serving, packing lists and all the details you'll need in case of emergency. Everything we're covering will be in a handout that you can take home for your parents and we'll be posting most of the information here on the blog. We'll also have financial updates for you on where you are at in your support raising.

Remember to bring your journals and your folders! And remember to take a few minutes before Sunday and look back through your journal of the last three weeks and revisit your thoughts on Philippians 2:3-11 and consider the question "Now What?" After reading and rereading that passage for the last three weeks, through what you've learned and observed, how are you going to be different, how is this trip going to be different because of what you've read.

We'll see you on Sunday!

PS-We won't have a meal this time since it's in the afternoon, but we'll have some drinks!
